Daily biogeochemical cycles in wetlands

Wetlands are biogeochemical hotspots that host bacteria which regulate a wide suite of biogeochemical cycles critical to life on earth. Many wetlands experience dynamic O2 fluxes, which influence the rates of fundamental chemical cycles. While it is understood that microbes control or catalyze many of the chemical processes which occur within wetlands, it is unknown exactly how O2 fluxes are impacting microbial community structure and behavior. Through use of amplicon sequencing and metatranscriptomics, an understanding of microbial activity in relation to O2 fluxes within wetlands can be explored.
